Overview
Pastoral Care and Counseling involves equipping students with the skills necessary to provide spiritual, emotional, and psychological support to individuals and communities effectively. This training should cover a wide range of topics, from basic counseling techniques to complex issues such as crisis intervention and grief counseling. Below, I outline a structured curriculum divided into four modules that address these areas comprehensively. This syllabus and structure provide a comprehensive framework for students to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in pastoral care and counseling. LEARNING OUTCOME The students who have succeeded in this course should be able to:
- Demonstrate an integrated approach to pastoral care that combines theological understanding with psychological insights.
- Maintain personal and spiritual well-being, recognizing the importance of self-care and continual growth for effective pastoral care.
- Apply ethical principles in pastoral care, including maintaining confidentiality, setting boundaries, and making appropriate referrals.
- Employ counselling theories and models in specific pastoral situations, such as grief counselling, marriage counselling, and crisis intervention
